Paint these 3 hard-to-reach Places like a Pro
Painting like a pro can be both an enjoyable and aq hard task depending on how you approach the whole process. Even if you are a professional painter, you are likely to encounter obstacles in one or two difficult areas. Accessing areas above your head to apply the paint can be tricky and prone to accidents. When you make a resolve to paint the peaks, roof space, trim of a high house, and gables, you might be required to use a combination of ladders and maybe borrowed scaffolding for you to perform the task securely.
Follow the rule of thumb and paint when there is bright light with low humidity for the best outcome. Perhaps you have been wondering how possible it is to successfully paint those hard to reach surfaces. Luckily enough there are easy painting tips for those hard to reach areas that you can apply and get the best outcome after painting. The following are the best tips for painting the three common problematic surfaces.
1. Painting Behind the Bathroom and Toilet
Toilets and bathrooms have more hidden areas than other rooms in the house. Painting behind the bathroom toilet is the most demanding of all the tasks. This demands the services of a mini roller which is relatively smaller, shorter and narrower in size in comparison to regular rollers. This is the most appropriate device for painting behind the bathroom/toilet. It is also an excellent tool for painting behind things like radiators and other similar fittings.
Using the mini roller, you will realize that it is easy and more convenient to paint various types of tight spaces. This could not be possible with the use of ordinary rollers. In order to properly reach the tight and hidden areas, you will be required to use a mini roller with a long handle. This will enable you to rotate on an extension pole to give the right quality or access to the roller into space without straining.
Now some toilets are really tight up against the wall and even the mini roller might not fit. There are two options left; One is to remove the tank which we don’t recommend often. The second option is to slip masking paper between the toilet and the wall to keep paint off the toilet and with a brush paint as much as you possibly can. Be sure to stand at the vanity as if washing your hands and look at the toilet. It’s incredible what odd viewing angles can be found in a bathroom and this will make sure that you’ve painted and covered everything visible
2. Painting the Window Trim
In most cases, it is really difficult to paint windows. It’s additionally time-consuming when you spend a bunch of time trying to either protect the glass from paint with tape or by painting very slowly to avoid taping. Fortunately, we have a few tips for you to make life easier that will save you time as well.
Some might say just ignore the use of masking tape and paint your window very carefully making as straight a line as possible on the window but, we all know how well that works. If you don’t know, take it from me, it usually doesn’t.
First, here is what we do and a couple options if the conditions are right. Step 1, Tape a quick line with 1.5 inch Frog tape . We try not to be too precise as it becomes very time-consuming. We aim for about an 1/8th inch of tolerance on our line. Step 2, we use a small brush and mini roller(as applicable) to paint the trim quickly. Step 3, Once dry we quickly score our tape line, remove the tape, and use a flat razor blade to gently push back the paint where it is too far onto the window. This method will work for all windows.
If you are doing some older glass pane with wood retaining trim AND the weather is warm you may be able to use the Secret Weapon! Liquid Masking is an amazing product when the conditions are right. You apply it liberally with a small brush or roller and allow it to dry completely. On multipaned windows, typically found on historic homes, this can turn hours of work into minutes.
3. Painting High Ceilings and Walls
The first things you should do here before even reading about the tools we suggest is to lay down something to cover the floor and anything under the painting area. In highschool, High walls and ceiling received equal votes for “most likely to make a mess”
Have you noticed that there are certain areas in your home for instance above a staircase that are not accessible using a ladder? Another challenging area is painting the central part of the ceiling board where you can’t reach easily using a ladder. Maybe you have occasionally tried to amplify this process by attaching a painting brush to a long stick to access these high-level surfaces. This can be messy and you can end up painting unwanted areas.
For easy and effective painting, use the paintbrush extension tool which acts like an extension your arm. Hold the painting brush right up to the top of the wall and apply paint to the areas where a roller can’t reach. This method is flexible and you can place your paint brush in an angle that is convenient for you. For the best results, fill your paintbrush taking care to use less paint than when you are painting a wall in front of you. You must be cautious and without hurry in order to achieve excellent drip-free results.
